Andrea Radrizzani makes one frank request to Leeds United fans for the months ahead

Club chairman Andrea Radrizzani had a message for Leeds United fans as the club unveiled a plaque to commemorate the club’s centenary.

The Italian was present for an event as part of United’s 100th birthday celebrations alongside club captain Liam Cooper.

The plaque was unveiled at Salem Chapel, opposite the Tetley Brewery in Holbeck, where the club was first formed exactly 100 years ago today following the city’s former club, Leeds City, being wound up.

“It’s a special day, I’m lucky to be here” said Radrizzani .

“It’s a privilege and an honour to the chairman of this football club every day, but today even more.

“It’s a time to remember our glorious times. The 70s, and the early 2000s when the team was successful. But it also has to be our motivation to look forward for the future, and try to be back where we belong.”

The 45-year-old, who completed the club takeover in 2017, has been an outspoken presence in the media over the past week.

He teased the possibility of major investment in an interview with The Times , but he’s since clarified those comments, suggesting it’s only a possibility for the future.

He’s also been keen to look to the future, and has made several references to his ambition of helping Leeds get back to the Premier League, calling for unity going forward.

“Stop being against the players and the club as soon as we have a problem,” he responded when asked if he has a message for the Leeds supporters.

“To be united and support us, because the mission is the most important. That’s what we need to be together and focused on, and not anything else.”
