Andrea Radrizzani makes Leeds United investment admission as confidence in Whites grows

Here is your Leeds morning digest for Sunday, October 11.

What Radrizzani has said on Leeds investment

The San Francisco 49ers appear to be keen on increasing their minority stake in Leeds after the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites’ summer spending was an indication of the improved financial situation, a result of the money generated by being a top-flight club.

Owner Andrea Radrizzani has spoken on outside investment in the past, addressing speculation of interest from Qatar Sports Investments back in April.

“These are rumours that have been ongoing for more than a year now,” he told Gianluca Di Marzio.

“What is true is we have a great relationship on a personal level, there's a desire to do something together maybe even in football, but there's nothing concrete at this time.

“In the last few weeks everything took a back seat. My desire to have a great Leeds that is a protagonist in the Premier League and to do so we will need partners on top of the San Francisco 49ers, we'll evaluate this when we are in that league.”

Leeds Premier League odds cut after strong start

Leeds’ impressive start to the Premier League season has seen bookmakers slash the odds of Marcelo Bielsa’s side winning the Premier League.

Bet365 had the Whites at 500/1 to finish top before a ball was kicked, but that has now been dropped to 100/1.

Leeds have beaten Sheffield United and Fulham so far this term, as well as earning a point against Manchester City and narrowly losing out in a 4-3 thriller at champions Liverpool on the opening day.

Their odds of finishing in the top four are also down to 20/1, while a top-six finish is currently at 7/1.

Relegation seems to be out of the picture for now, too, with odds of a bottom three finish deemed an unlikely 12/1.

Ayling reveals moment that gave him hope against Liverpool

Luke Ayling has said a nutmeg on Liverpool star Sadio Mane gave him a boost of confidence in Leeds’ first Premier League game of the season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side were faced with the daunting prospect of a trip to Anfield following promotion from the Championship, but very nearly emerged with a point.

And Ayling has admitted he needed something to settle him down after Liverpool’s fast start.

“It was nice. Obviously you’re a bit nervous to start the season,” the full-back said on Soccer AM. “They came out flying the first few minutes, I was like, ‘Jesus, oh my gosh, it’s going to be a long day’.

“Then I chucked the megs in and thought, ‘This is a bit of me!’. I remember looking at Tyler Roberts in the stand and saying, ‘Did you see that?’.

“About five minutes later, I was down the line and he went straight through my legs. I thought, ‘What’s happened here?’ - he got me straight back.”
