Andrea Radrizzani has all but shut down Leeds United’s interest in Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.
The Argentina international has been at the heart of the longest-running saga of the transfer window for the Whites.
Reports from Italy have always been very strong on United’s interest in De Paul, while the player himself has fanned the flames of speculation through social media.
However, after weeks of inaction on all fronts, Radrizzani has finally spoken publicly about the 26-year-old.
“We thought about it, but I don’t think anyone will sign him,” he told Italian radio station Radio 24.
The interview follows the collapse of Michael Cuisance’s Elland Road switch on Thursday evening, leaving director of football Victor Orta with two players to sign before Monday night.
De Paul was at the top of many lists for fans hoping Cuisance would be substituted for the Serie A man, but Radrizzani has finally confirmed the end of the saga.
