Leeds United, many senior players, and owner Andrea Radrizanni reacted to the one-year anniversary of fans being in attendance at Elland Road.
March 7, 2020, was the last time Leeds hosted a match with fans in the stands. It was a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town with Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford grabbing the goals.
The atmosphere was feverish as ever, and while warnings of Covid were present at the time, no one quite thought it would be more than a year before supporters would be allowed back to watch Leeds.
And yet, that is precisely what has happened, with fans still not allowed in until May 17 at the earliest after Boris Johnson outlined the UK's roadmap out of lockdown earlier this year.
On the one-year anniversary of fans in attendance, Leeds shared memories of the day.
The official club Twitter account tweeted out: "A year since we were all together. Thank you for your unbelievable support, we miss you, stay safe and we’ll be back marching on together at Elland Road soon!" with a series of pictures from the day.
The tweet was then retweeted by a series of Leeds players and staff members, including owner Radrizzani.
In response to a video of Ayling's sensational volley that set Leeds on their way, Radrizzani tweeted: "The last time we were together, a difficult year for everyone but a year to remember for our return to [the] Premier League.
"We will be back stronger together at Elland Road! #MOT can’t wait to be back, feel those special emotions again every time you sing 'we are the champions.'"
Ayling himself also shared his response to the supporters. The versatile defender said: "Can not wait to hear that roar again. Never take hearing marching on together sang by 37 thousands for granted again. Not longer now people. Stay safe and see you soon."
And captain Liam Cooper also expressed his eagerness to see fans back at Elland Rd.
He said: "Not long now everyone! Something tells me the roof could come off. MOT."
At present, fans are expected to return for the final round of Premier League fixtures. 10,000 would be allowed to be in attendance based on the current rules.
For Leeds, this is a home match against West Brom, although there are reports that the Premier League is considering pushing back the final two gameweeks of the campaign so that every team has at least one game at home with fans in attendance.
