Andrea Radrizzani addresses the 'confusion and rumours' over how Leeds United's season will end

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has reiterated his club's desire to complete the Championship season on the pitch.

All professional football was suspended earlier this month prior to the government-ordered lockdown which has seen everyone but key workers told to stay in their homes.

The season has now been postponed indefinitely and while the desire is there with clubs and the authorities to finish the season as soon as possible, ongoing events and severity of the pandemic mean no-one is sure when, or even if, the current domestic season will be completed.

"What happens with the end of the Championship?," Radrizzani said in an interview with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

"There is a lot of confusion and more rumours in the media than on the official level.

"The will is to play, even if you don't know when or whether behind closed or open doors. I hope so because I would like to conquest the promotion on the field.

"But I am confident that there will be a correct solution.

The Italian also spoke of the dire financial implications that the pandemic will have on football finances.

"A disaster unfortunately," he continued. "To be competitive, a club like ours loses £8-10million every year and nobody wants to keep a business that loses money every year. This situation aggravates the budget. Not having five home games we lose about two and a half million pounds which are the only source of revenues since such figures do not come from TV rights.

"This epidemic aggravates this situation which is already normally complicated. Salary cut? Our management is carrying out two speeches, one with the federation and another with our players."
