Andrea Pirlo's role in Jack Harrison's development as Leeds United winger's progress continues

Jack Harrison's upward trajectory has continued in recent weeks, with the Manchester City loanee claiming four assists in Leeds United's last five games.

The 22-year-old turned in a match-winning display this weekend against QPR, teeing up Tyler Roberts for the opener before sealing the win his a goal of his own.

Harrison has started every Championship game for the Whites this season and Bielsa was quick to hail his performance this weekend.

"He did a lot of effort," said the Leeds head coach. "He played on the left side at full-back, as midfielder and as winger. He has defended and attacked as well.

"He scored the second goal and gave the pass for the first goal and he ran in the corridor a lot, attacking and defending."

Harrison has shown steady progress during his time at Leeds so far and speaking after the QPR victory, he opened up on the influence of his former New York City teammates Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard during his time in the MLS.

"Watching these guys every day, I was always looking to learn," he said. "For the first three or four months I was injured, so I just had to watch and observe. Watching them day in, day out in training and in games and stuff, you always pick up little things. As a player, I was young back then, I was always trying to learn as much as possible."

After having stints at Liverpool and Manchester United's academies, Harrison moved to America at the age of 14 and was signed by New York in 2016.

During his two years in the first-team he played alongside Pirlo and Lampard, who were enjoying stateside stints at the end of their illustrious careers.

"I didn’t know how long I’d spend with these guys, so I was just trying to make the most of every moment with them," Harrison continued. "They teach you things without you even knowing, so it was an incredible experience to play with the likes of those players. I was very grateful that I had that opportunity.

"Those guys are brilliant. It could be so easy for them to forget about the youngsters or the whole team, but they were always nice to me and looking out for me and the other young players, looking to help them wherever they could. They were fantastic idols for, I’ve always looked up to them."
