Andrea Pirlo 'fascinated by Premier League' as he faces Juventus axe

Andrea Pirlo could be fired by Juventus this summer after a dire season, and appears willing to remain in management.

The Italian's first year in management has been horrid, and it appears Juve will miss out on the Champions League.

Despite having a superstar-laden squad at his disposal, Pirlo failed to get past Porto in the Champions League and surrendered Juve's title after nine years of dominating Serie A.

Juventus officials are believed to be considering sacking the former midfielder after just one year, leaving the 41-year-old at a crossroads.

The summer transfer window is fast approaching and it's believed Juve will make whoelsale changes, with Pirlo's job currently in a tentative state.

He's only had one managerial role which, so far, hasn't gone well.

But he seems confident about getting a new job fairly soon, with Football Italia reporting he's got his eye on his next role.

Speculation had suggested that Pirlo would be offered the Juventus under-23 role, the role he was given just days before taking the top job last year.

But instead, he is apparently "fascinated" by the idea of managing in the Premier League.

The managerial landscape in England will likely be interesting this summer, with Crystal Palace and Tottenham set to be on the hunt for a new head coach.

Roy Hodgson is set to leave Selhurst Park next week at the end of his contract, and it has been suggested they could hire Frank Lampard.

And Tottenham are still looking for a replacement for Jose Mourinho, who was fired last month.

Despite speculation linking Pirlo with the sack, Juventus vice-president Pavel Nedved insists he'll be going nowhere.

"Pirlo and Ronaldo will stay at Juventus," he said earlier this week.
