Andrea Corr suffered five devastating miscarriages while trying for baby with husband

Andrea Corr has opened up about suffering five devastating miscarriages.

The Corrs singer went through the difficult times while trying for a baby with her husband Brett Desmond.

The Irish star, who found fame alongside siblings Sharon, Caroline and Jim, opens up about her heartache in her new book, Barefoot Pilgrimage, which is set to be released next week.

The Runaway hitmaker, who tied the knot with billionaire Brett in 2009, told the Daily Mail's You magazine: "Every time, no matter how often it happens, as soon as you discover you’re pregnant, you so quickly go into the mode of hoping and dreaming for this child – and then suddenly it’s all gone.

"Every time I’d feel so sad for a life that wasn’t there any more and also really frightened that this was it. That I’d always miscarry."

Andrea opens up about how her miscarriages affected her in her book.

An excerpt published in the Sunday Independent's Life magazine reads: "I have miscarried five times.

"The first and second the most devastating, as I could not see yet what...who, I would later be blessed with.

"I walked and I prayed. And my mother-in-law, Pat (a blessing in herself) prayed and lit a candle for us every day.

"Torches and tallow lamps, often to 'the Little Flower' St Therese, for whom there is a shrine in the church of St Jean."

Andrea and Brett now have two children, seven-year-old Jean, who Andrea named after her beloved mum who died when the singer was 25, and Brett Jr, five.

The family is moving back to Ireland after a stint living in London.
