Andrea Agnelli concedes Super League defeat as crushed Juventus schemer admits it's OVER

Juventus chief Andrea Agnelli admits the Super League is dead in the water.

The six remaining clubs had yet to clarify their stance on the controversial proposal after the Premier League contingent all bailed out on a dramatic Tuesday night.

Amid a furious backlash from fans, governing bodies and rival clubs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham withdrew one by one.

There had been some bullish noises emanating from the devastated Super League camp on Wednesday morning despite the crushing blow of the previous.

But Agnelli, who has been the driving force behind European football reform in recent years, has now conceded that the breakaway cannot go ahead.

Asked whether the project could still happen after the exits, Agnelli told Reuters: "To be frank and honest no, evidently that is not the case."

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter and Agnelli's Juventus were the remaining sides.
