Andre Roberson moves rehab back to Oklahoma City

Andre Roberson is back in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder forward was seen at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Sunday night, apparently much to the surprise of the media.

According to Maddie Lee of The Oklahoman, media members in the locker room following Oklahoma City’s win over the Spurs “did a double-take” when Roberson showed up at his locker.

Although Roberson is back for the foreseeable future, unfortunately, it doesn’t change his timetable for return – there still isn’t one.

Billy Donovan told reporters, including Lee, that it was “good to have him back” and that Roberson has always “been a team guy”. When it comes to Roberson getting back on the court, the Thunder head coach simply said, “things change, as they always do”.

Not exactly a lot to read into either way regarding Roberson’s status.

Although he didn’t practice with the team on Monday, Lee tweeted out a video of Roberson getting in some individual work after the team had finished practice.

Roberson had moved his rehab to Los Angeles at the beginning of December but was reportedly in constant contact with Oklahoma City’s medical staff while in California.

While he was there, he began working with Olin Simplis, who trained Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during the offseason. Gilgeous-Alexander told The Oklahoman that Simplis would be good for Roberson.

“O has helped a lot with me in terms of knee pains in the summer and stuff like that,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “And I know Dre is dealing with some knee pains, so O should be good for him.”

Roberson is continuing to work back from the torn left patellar tendon that has kept him sidelined since January 2018.
