Andre Iguodala on Steph Curry: ‘I think he’s the second best ever’

Steph Curry is the greatest shooter to ever play the game. He’s shattered single-season 3-point records multiple times. He’s won two MVPs and three NBA titles. He’ll easily be a first-ballot Hall of Famer one day.

But according to teammate Andre Iguodala, Curry is the second-best player in basketball’s history — trailing just Michael Jordan.

NBA fans love to have the Jordan-LeBron arguments, but this is certainly a new one. On the all-time scoring list, Curry ranks at No. 109. He battled ankle injuries in the early stages of his career before emerging as the superstar he is today. Iguodala, though, thinks Curry has surpassed LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

He told The Athletic, discussing the 2015 series against the Grizzles, which included Curry’s series-changing 70-footer:

“I think he’s the second best ever. I always thought that about him. I knew but other people didn’t know. So I wasn’t surprised when he took over that series. But I always gave Tony Allen credit. Playing against him made you understand the grind of how hard it is to win. It’s supposed to be hard. You’re supposed to have to find another way. It’s supposed to be uncomfortable. He just embraced that. Just ingrained that into his system and it’s been there ever since.”

In the series against Portland, Curry averaged a scorching 36.5 points per game and shot 42.5 percent from 3-point range.
