Andre Iguodala named to NBPA player executive committee

While three Warriors players (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant) had a busy weekend participating in the 2019 All-Star festivities in Charlotte, N.C., another Warrior was busy with an activity that will now put him in the spotlight.

Forward Andre Iguodala was named a member of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) player executive committee for the 2019 through 2023 term, which was first announced by Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today. Iguodala is taking over the position of First Vice President, replacing Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.

ESPN’s Ian Begley reported Iguodala’s statement on the announcement:

I am honored to be chosen by my peers to step into this position and take on a larger responsibility within the NBPA. I look forward to continuing my work with (NBPA executive director) Michele (Roberts), Chris Paul and the Executive Committee to accomplish the best possible outcomes for the union and our future members.

Iguodala was not the only new selection to the board. Malcolm Brogdon, Bismack Biyombo, and Jaylen Brown were also selected as new Vice Presidents, joining incumbent VP’s Paul Gasol, CJ McCollum and Garrett Temple.
