Andre Gomes suffers horror injury and Heung-Min Son sent off during Everton clash with Tottenham

Andre Gomes has suffered a suspected broken ankle after being fouled by Spurs' forward Son Heung-Min at Goodison.

Gomes was tripped by Son and as he lost his footing the Everton midfielder's ankle appeared to break.

Son, distraught at seeing the damage sustained to Gomes, was initially yellow carded by referee Martin Atkinson but that was soon upgraded to a red.

Seamus Coleman, a substitute warming up on the touchline, immediately raced onto the pitch as he saw the extent of Gomes' injury first-hand.

A number of other nearby Everton players were visibly shaken by the sight of Gomes' shocking injury.

The Portuguese midfielder was stretchered off in the 84th minute and replaced by Gylfi Sigurdsson.
