Andre Gomes sends message to Everton after returning 'home'

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has returned to the club's training ground for individual training as he steps his recovery from a horrific ankle fracture.

Gomes was injured in November during a game against Tottenham - the Portugal international fell awkwardly after a tackle from Spurs' Heung-min Son.

It was assumed that the player signed permanently from Barcelona in the summer would miss the rest of the season, but it appears his rehabilitation is ahead of schedule.

In a video posted on Everton 's twitter account, Gomes walked unaided into Finch Farm and was greeted by his teammates in the dressing room.

Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti recently revealed that the 26-year-old's treatment so far has been successful, and that a return to the team may not be too far away.

"It is good news. He is doing well in his recovery," the Italian said.

"It is going fast, so I hope as soon as possible he can be with us, because he's a fantastic player."

With another central midfielder also expected to return in the near future, in summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin , Ancelotti will have two additional options to choose from in the middle of the park as he looks to guide Everton into the top half of the league.
