Andre Gomes sends classy message to Everton fans after difficult campaign

Andre Gomes has sent a brilliant message of thanks to Everton fans after what was a difficult season both for the club and him personally.

The Blues limped over the finish line in 12th position in the Premier League table, their lowest finish in 16 years, after a particularly poor run of form in the closing stages of the term.

The midfielder had also faced a testing campaign on a personal level after suffering a fracture dislocation of his ankle in a clash with Spurs in November, which ruled him out for several months.

The Portugal international recovered quicker than first anticipated and worked his way back into the side by February, but couldn't have his usual impact on matches.

Following the end of the campaign, Gomes took to Instagram to thank supporters and send them a clear message for the future.

His post read: "Final whistle! I was trying to resume this season, but I found myself writing a small book. I'll obviously take the best, out of the worst, from this long, stressful and intense journey.

"Let's rest and prepare for next season.

"To you all, thank you for your support when things got harder, and thank you for your strength, your ambition.

"Never stop demanding the best, that shows how big we are!"

Gomes made 19 Premier League appearances for Everton across the term, with his one assist coming against Aston Villa for Theo Walcott's equaliser.
