Everton completed the signing of Andre Gomes last month and the midfield maestro gave his first press conference on Thursday.

The Portuguese international was signed from La Liga champions Barcelona for £22million to the delight of Blues supporters.

Gomes, who impressed during his loan campaign at Goodison Park, outlined the club's ambitions for the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old admitted his long-term desire, he said: "We have our goals and ambitions. We are working step by step. We want to reach the Europa League.

"It is the main goal. We want Europa. We want to go in European competitions."

The ex-Valencia pro has been really impressed with the owners' vision and in particular the plans for a new stadium set to be built on the site of Bramley-Moore Dock.

"The owners are thinking bigger with the new stadium. They want to improve a lot," Gomes continued.

"Obviously [I want to play there]. We are together.

"We are a family. We are thinking right."
