Andre Gomes completes practice match as Everton play behind closed doors

Andre Gomes has made the latest step in his recovery from injury after completing a behind-closed-doors match at Finch Farm on Sunday afternoon.

The 26-year-old played the full 60 minutes of an 11-a-side match at the club's training complex, featuring both first team stars and U23s.

The Blues medical staff reported no issues after the game,  and Gomes will now continue to train with the squad ahead of next weekend's trip to Arsenal.

The midfielder has been out of action since suffering a fracture dislocation of his right ankle against Spurs at Goodison Park at the beginning of November.

It was initially feared the Portugal international could miss the entire campaign, but his recovery has been much quicker than expected.

Gomes returned to Finch Farm in January and, earlier this month, it was confirmed by Carlo Ancelotti that the plan was to get the midfielder fit to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
