Andre Ayew 'wanted' by Celtic as Hoops line up summer transfer for Ghana star

Celtic are lining up a move for Andre Ayew, according to a report.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after leaving Swansea following their failure to get promoted to the English Premier League.

The Ghana captain was a target for the Hoops during Brendan Rodgers’ time at the club and it could finally happen.

A report in his homeland states that Ayew’s recent availability means Celtic are set to go back in for him.

The Hoops are set to appoint Ange Postecoglou as their new manager this week and he will be on the lookout for signings.

With Odsonne Edouard set to leave, attacking options are needed by the Hoops as they look to reclaim the Premiership title.

Ayew has spent four years at Swansea over two different spells and scored 47 goals in 139 games.

He started his career at Marseille and had loan spells at Lorient and Arles-Avignon before moving to the Welsh outfit.

He also had short spells at West Ham and Fenerbahce during his career and has scored 19 goals in 92 games for his country.

Postecoglou is set to have a major rebuild on his hands with Kristoffer Ajer also looking to leave while Ryan Christie has been linked with a move away.
