Andraz Sporar transfer latest as Celtic target's club sent stark warning over January exit

Slovan Bratislava have been urged not to sell main man Andraz Sporar to Celtic because the club won't be able to replace him

The Hoops are weighing up a move for Sporar, who has bagged 36 goals from 46 games this year - just two behind Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos .

Neil Lennon conceded the 25-year-old Slovenian international was on Celtic 's radar and there have reportedly been talks between the Parkhead giants and the Slovakian club.

But former Slovan hero Lubomir Meszaros, who made over 200 appearances in two spells at the Bratislava club - has urged his former team not to give in and sell Sporar to Celtic.

He said: "Andraz is an excellent player. He's clearly the best player in the league and there's no team who can boast a player as good as him.

"But if he was sold, it would be a huge blow for Slovan because how are they going to replace someone like that?

"It would have a massive impact on the team and would significantly disrupt their challenges for the league and other trophies. His goal ratio is incredible. He makes an impression in every match.

"Any team would have a major problem if they sold a striker like Andraz and I hope Slovan think very carefully about selling him to Celtic or another club in Europe.

"Even if they got a lot of money, the problem would be replacing him."
