Andraz Sporar Celtic transfer gets a green light but Hoops face battle to sign striker

Celtic have been given a green light in their pursuit of £5 million-rated striker Andraz Sporar – but they face a massive fight for his signature.

The Hoops had the Slovan Bratislava front-man watched in their Europa League tie with Braga on Thursday night and he’s on gaffer Neil Lennon’s radar.

Mailsport understands that Slovenian international Sporar WILL be allowed to leave the Slovak club if a suitable offer comes in from a top European side – with Celtic falling into that category.

Slovan chairman Ivan Kmotric has accepted that if a deal is put on the table which suits both player and club, they’ll lose their star man.

But the Parkhead club will have to compete with clubs from England, Spain, France, Germany and Italy to snare the 25-year-old.

He’s shot to prominence after bagging six goals in the Europa League this term, as well as starring for his country in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Sporar scored for Slovan Bratislava in their midweek defeat to Braga and also netted against Premier League outfit Wolves and Turkish side Besiktas earlier in the competition.

Celtic are in the hunt for a striker in January to provide competition for French ace Odsonne Edouard as they fight on four trophy fronts.

Sporar is available and on Lennon’s wanted list, with Celtic’s interest already registered with the player’s representatives.

But his current form has attracted suitors from across Europe, which will make any potential transfer more difficult.
