Andraz Sporar, Celtic and the transfer green light that boosts Manchester United

Celtic target Andraz Sporar is on the verge of sealing a £5million move to Sporting Lisbon and the deal could help Manchester United land a long-term target.

Portuguese outlet Record claim the Slovan Bratislava will put to pen to paper on a switch to the Primeira Liga in the next 24 hours and that could pave the way for Bruno Fernandes' move to Old Trafford.

Fernandes' future is up in the air and rumours over a £65m move to the Premier League only intensified after what appeared to be a farewell kiss aimed at Lisbon supporters on Saturday.

When probed over whether the 14-goal attacking midfielder is on the move after the 3-1 win over Setubal, boss Jorge Silas concedes his star man's future remains very much up in the air.

He said: "I can't guarantee any of these things because I don't know."

Sporar is very much a No.9 but he will be expected to fill the hole left by Fernandes if a deal can be struck with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United .

Sporting do not have an extensive transfer budget so they would only splash that kind of cash on Sporar if they felt confident funds were arriving in the other direction.

The Red Devils have been trailing the 25-year-old for 18 months but decided against pulling the trigger on a move for the Portugal international last summer.

But his exit now appears inevitable and the expectation is that Sporar will be asked to make an instant impact with his next club.

Celtic held initial discussions with the Slovenia striker and his representatives in December but reports in Slovakia in recent days claimed his heart was set on a move to Lisbon.

But it's not all bad news for the Premiership champions as Neil Lennon appears to be closing in on his first signing of the January window.

Reports in Poland suggest Patryk Klimala has agreed a £3.5m deal and will undergo his Parkhead medical on Monday.

And that revelation came hours after Lennon revealed his side were on the verge of landing a signing target.

He sad: "We have had three or four important calls between the staff and the club and obviously patience is the key.

"January is a difficult month to bring players in. Other clubs know that when you are the buying club, agents do as well.

"However, we have a number of options and got our eye on a few players and hopefully we will have a result in the next few days."
