Andoni Iraola has said that he is “ready” for the challenges ahead after he was confirmed as Liverpool’s new boss.
The Spaniard was appointed on Thursday evening to replace Arne Slot, who was sacked last Saturday.
Iraola led Bournemouth to the Europa League - and the cusp of the Champions League - in his third season at the Vitality Stadium, with the Cherries qualifying for Europe for the first time in their history.
It was announced earlier in the campaign that the former Athletic Bilbao player would leave the Dorset coast upon the expiration of his contract this summer, and he has picked Anfield as his next destination.
Standard Sport understands that he had been one of two leading contenders to replace Liam Rosenior at Chelsea, before Xabi Alonso was selected as the Blues’ new boss.
Now, in a message to supporters posted on Liverpool’s official social media pages, Iraola said that he wanted to channel “emotions” in order to achieve success on Merseyside.

“For me, football is about emotions,” he narrated over a video of himself arriving at Anfield.
“This inner energy. You need it as a player, you need it as a supporter, as a coach.
“At the beginning, when you arrive, you need to earn the right to belong. I want to become one of you so I can be a part, no?
“I know that it is a privilege and a big responsibility. I understand what is expected. I am ready for the challenges.”
Iraola will be tasked with bringing silverware back to the city after a season without any.
His predecessor Slot came under fire for an underwhelming title defence, which saw the Reds finish in fifth in the Premier League table, as well as being knocked out early in every cup competition.
The Dutchman was also criticised by supporters, pundits - and players, in Mohamed Salah’s case - for his style of play.
