Andie MacDowell has revealed how reprising her iconic role of Carrie in Four Weddings and a Funeral for a Comic Relief special left her feeling “teary-eyed.”

The 60-year-old actress is set to star alongside Hugh Grant and Kristen Scott Thomas in a short spin-off film titled One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, which marks the first time that the rom-com cast has reunited since the original premiered 25 years ago.

“I’ve been teary-eyed the whole day,” she told the Radio Times on the set.

“It’s kind of silly but when you get older and you have the opportunity to be put back into a similar situation with these people who you had such a close connection to and you had such good memories of, it’s really affecting.”

Nostalgic: the original Four Weddings film was released in 1994 ()

The star also opened up about her friendship with co-star Grant, who she sees “a few times every year.”

“We have a huge bond through the success of the movie, because it was the beginning really for him, that was a big announcement to the world of his talent.

“He’s very sweet and funny, and we both feel deeply connected to Four Weddings,” she added.

Director Mike Newell and screenwriter Richard Curtis are also on board for the film, which will air as part of the Red Nose Day telethon on March 15.

Lily James is reportedly set to star as Grant and MacDowell’s on-screen daughter, who will walk down the aisle for a wedding of her own.

The 12-minute film follows the success of 2017’s Red Nose Day Actually, which saw the likes of Grant, Bill Nighy and Colin Firth reprise the roles they played in festive classic Love Actually.

Red Nose Day 2019 starts at 7pm on BBC1 on March 15.
