Andi Peters says he is followed around shops because of colour of his skin

TV host Andi Peters today revealed he is regularly followed around shops because of the colour of his skin, with people expecting him to be a thief.

Andi was speaking on Good Morning Britain this morning in response to similar comments made by West Indies cricketer Michael Holding.

Michael was speaking about the movement that has seen sportsmen take the knee, recognising the continuing inequality faced by some people.

He said: "We have people growing up, subconsciously or not, thinking they are superior to other races.

"And we have people growing up, subconsciously or not, thinking they are inferior to other races - and that is a load of b******s as you would say."

Andi then spoke of his own experiences. He said: "What he said about being followed in shops, supermarkets, because of the colour of your skin it really exists.

"It happens to me I'd say enough times for me to know 'Oh, someone thinks I'm going to nick the Wispa bar - I'm not I'm just going to get it and pay for it like everybody else'."

He added: "It meant a lot, it meant a lot to me and I'm sure a lot of people watching were like, do you know what thank you Michael."

Andi added: "I'm lucky because somebody eventually realises 'Oh it's you'," adding: "You judge me on the colour of my skin until you realise 'I'm the bloke of the telly that's fine he won't steal'.
