Andhra University duo’s ed-tech startup valued at Rs 3 crore

VISAKHAPATNAM: Edumoon, an ed-tech startup floated during the first wave of Covid-19 by two students of Andhra University in 2020, has been selected and valued at 3 crore in Chunauti 2.0 startup contest conducted by the Software Technology Parks of India.

Due to the same, Pontaq, a UK-based cross border innovation fund, investing in early stage technology businesses, has come forward to invest 20 lakh in Edumoon.

The education startup made it to the seed funding round in Chunauti 2.0 startup contest by competing with about 3,000 other startups that have participated in the challenge from across the country.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected humankind in innumerable ways. But Kapuganti Vikas and Ponnada Mahidar, the founders of Edumoon, have turned this adversity into opportunity.

When the crisis induced by the Covid-19 brought the entire education system to a halt, the two youth leveraged the power of technology to plant their first seed towards their big dream.

They started an Instagram page to conduct exam paper analysis to help other students, which became an instant success with the student group. Later, they expanded their horizon to provide online lectures, workshops, boot camps, skilling courses, internships, etc.

A 15-member team is currently working on various aspects related to the Edumoon, from offering technical assistance and tutoring to mentoring and designing.

Speaking to ToI, Mahidhar said they have tied up with various colleges and private organisations to build student community and help the students build their careers. “We are also taking advantage of various social media platforms to increase our visibility and reach. We want to bridge the gap between the industry and the students through our startup,” Mahidhar said.

Mahidhar added their startup is currently being incubated at Andhra University Incubation Centre. “We will further scale up our operations for the benefit of the student community,” he added. Edumoon currently has about 15,000 student members on various social media platforms.
