Andhra University cricketer Munnangi Abhinav selected for Vizzy trophy

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra University cricketer Munnangi Abhinav was selected for South Zone universities team that would play all India level universities Vizzy trophy tournament to be held from March 10 to 16 in Raipur.

The right hand opener and left arm leg spinner cricketer Abhinav is the only player from AP to be selected for the South Zone team for the tourney to be conducted by the BCCI.

Abhinav from Chirala Town in Undivided Prakasam district, a first year of M.Tech student in Wellpar Engineering College of Andhra University, attracted the selectors by scoring 64 in the opening match in South Z9ne inter universities tourney against Jain University of Bangalore and made 165 run partnership in first and second wickets.

Abhinav's father Munnangi Haribabu was a former Ranji player and also worked as a selector of the Andhra Cricket team for almost ten years. AU Vice chancellor Prof. P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy, Rector K. Samatha, Registrar Incharge N. Kishore Babu, AU Physical Education Department Director in Physical Education Prof. N. Vijaya Mohan, Head of Department Dr. A. Pallavi, Cricket Association representatives congratulated the player.
