Andhra Pradesh: YSR District Police busts interstate gang of robbers

TIRUPATI: The YSR (Kadapa) District Police in Andhra Pradesh apprehended an interstate robbers' gang and recovered stolen property worth Rs 9 lakh from the possession of the accused on Wednesday.

YSR District superintendent of police KKN Anburajan told reporters that the accused were identified as Rayapati Babu (34) of Muddanur, Kallamadi Chandra(36), Tiruchanuru Amarnath(35) — both hailed from Ananthapuramu district — and three others of Muddanur in YSR District.

Police said the gang used to conduct recce on two-wheelers and commit offence by targeting the selected victims.

The district police arrested them in connection with two cases registered at Muddanur and Proddatur recently.

YSR Kadapa district is one of the twenty-six districts in Andhra Pradesh.

It is also one of the eight districts in the Rayalaseema region.

Kadapa is the administrative headquarters for this district.
