TIRUPATI: Two women from Bellary in Karnataka who were running a high-tech prostitution racket in the temple city of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh were arrested by the police late on Tuesday night.

Tirupati east police, led by CI Sivaprasad Reddy, raided a home at Sri Nagar Colony near Jeevakona locality in the city and arrested the organisers of the flesh trade late on Tuesday night.

Two clients who were present at the house during the raids were also arrested.

During the course of the investigation, police found out that two women, identified as Lakshmi Priya and Swapna, relocated to Tirupati from Bellary and rented a house at the Srinagar Colony in the city from where they had been operating the high-tech prostitution racket.

The duo trafficked young women from Bengaluru and Gudivada and forced them into the flesh-trade. They used to approach clients on WhatsApp with the help of two local youth identified as Sai Charan and Anirudh.
