Andhra Pradesh: Two teens walking on tracks run over by train

TIRUPATI: Two teenagers who were walking on the railway tracks were run over by an unidentified train near Irangal in Kosigi mandal of Kurnool district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The victims were headed for their native village. According to Kosigi police, around 300 locals of Benigere village in Kosigi mandal who wanted to perform Ganga puja at the village were returning after fetching ‘sacred’ waters from Tungabhadra river around midnight.

While most of the villagers were walking at a distance from the railway tracks, two youngsters identified as Boya Anji (16) and Srinivasulu (16) walked through the middle of the tracks and were run over by a speeding train.

Police have registered a case and investigation is on.
