TIRUPATI: Chittoor police arrested three smugglers and seized red sanders logs weighing 1.03 tons on Friday. The accused, identified as Maradala Rajesh (27), D Sukumar (35) and Ekambaram Hemakumar (28), were hired by the red sanders smugglers in Vellore.
The trio ventured into Seshachalam forests along with a group of woodcutters, felled logs and were smuggling them to Tamil Nadu when they were intercepted by the police near AP-Tamil Nadu border in Chittoor.
