Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation (APTF) have found fault with the State government’s decision of ‘doing away with ‘4,764 Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts.
In a statement, federation’s president N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said that instead of initiating measures to fill the vacant teacher posts in schools, the government had brought in the G.O. No. 37, stating that 4,764 SGT posts were being adjusted in model schools.
“Even after claiming that not a single school would be shut down or any teacher post would be cancelled as part of the reforms in the education sector, the G.O. was issued to cancel teacher posts in bulk. The G.O. should be revoked and the vacant posts be immediately filled with qualified candidates,” they said.
