Andhra Pradesh: Staff at Disha one-stop centres plan stir demanding salary dues

VIJAYAWADA: Staff working at Disha one-stop centres across the state are heading for an agitation, demanding payment of pending salaries. The centres that play a key role in counselling, rescuing and protecting women under the Disha Act are facing hardships with staff crunch and salary dues. Employees working at the Vijayawada centre allege that they have not got salaries for the last 10 months and are facing difficulty in meeting basic needs.

Salaries are paid with the approval of district collectors on placing a request by project directors of the women and child welfare department. “ The staff in undivided Krishna district have not received salaries for the last 10 months. Staff in undivided Nellore district are not paid for the last 19 months,” an employee at a centre told TOI.

When contacted, NTR district collector Dilli Rao admitted that 10 months’ salaries are due to employees at the Vijayawada centre. “PD ICDS, Krishna, has not submitted utilisation certificates. We are talking to the district collector. We will resolve this,” Dilli Rao said.
