Andhra Pradesh: Puttaparthi panchayat commissioner commits suicide in Kadapa

TIRUPATI: Puttaparthi panchayat commissioner K Munikumar committed suicide by jumping off before a moving train near the Rayachoti railway gate at Kadapa on Saturday.

His body was found on the railway tracks near Utukuru village between Rayachoti and Kadapa this morning.

After being alerted by the locals, the railway police shifted the body of the deceased for postmortem and registered a case. Police suspect that Munikumar might have committed suicide.

Family members told the police that Munikumar who used to work at the Kadapa municipal corporation as a superintendent was sent on deputation recently to Puttaparthi where he joined the local panchayat as the commissioner.

He had applied for two days leave and spent the last couple of days with his family members and Kadapa and was quite normal. He left his home on Friday evening and by Saturday morning, his body was found on the railway tracks near Utukuru village under mysterious circumstances .The deceased is survived by his wife and two children.
