Andhra Pradesh: Prabhala theertham held with fervour in East Godavari

RAJAHMUNDRY: Prabhala theertham which takes place on the final day of Sankranthri festivities on Kanuma was organised in Konaseema in East Godavari district on Sunday.

Tall bamboo chariots carrying the local deities were taken in a procession.

Thousands of devotees witnessed the ritual.

The deity is Lord Siva, called by different names in the 11 villages surrounding Mosalapalli.

They are together called Ekadasa Rudras.

It is believed that all these forms of Lord meet on Kanuma Day. This 450-year-old tradition is protected and followed by residents of about 250 villages in Amalapuram revenue division.
