Andhra Pradesh: Plywood truck heading to Chennai from Hindupur falls into valley near Bhakrapet ghat road

TIRUPATI: A plywood truck heading to Chennai from Hindupur, fell into a valley near the Bhakrapet ghat road near Tirupati in the early hours on Wednesday.

According to Chandragiri police, the driver of the truck couldn't control the vehicle which was loaded with the plywood consignment, after the brakes of the truck failed when the vehicle was moving on the Bhakrapet ghat road.

The truck veered off the road and fell into the valley on the Bhakrapet ghat road. It was a miraculous escape for the driver and the cleaner of the truck, who escaped with injuries.

While the accident took place at around 4am in the morning, it came to light only after several hours after sunrise.

Chandragiri police have registered a case and are further investigating.

It may be recalled that exactly a month ago on March 27, 8 persons died and 45 others sustained injuries after a speeding bus fell into the valley on the same Bhakrapet ghat road.

Though the officials of the district administration and the police department claimed that they undertook several measures to prevent the recurrence of road mishaps on this route, yet another road mishap has been reported on the ghat road, but this time luckily enough, there were no fatalities.
