Andhra Pradesh: Nandyal police arrests kidnappers; recovers Rs 3.06 cr ransom money

TIRUPATI: Nandyal police arrested three more key accused in connection with the sensational kidnap case reported near Bethamcherla about four months ago and recovered Rs.3.06 crore out of the total sum of Rs.4 crore paid as ransom money by the victims to the kidnappers.

Addressing a press conference at Nandyal on Friday, SP K Raghuveer Reddy said that the district police wing arrested 15 kidnappers so far.

He recalled that on 5th June, the kidnappers gang waylaid and kidnapped CH Vinayaka Reddy along with his son Bharat Kumar Reddy and the car driver Sainath Reddy near Seetharamapuram village in Bethamcherla mandal.

The kidnappers threatened Vinayaka Reddy's father CH Nagi Reddy that they would kill his son and grandson if he did not pay them a ransom of Rs.4 crore.

Though Nagi Reddy immediately arranged the money and paid the entire ransom amount to the kidnappers, they did not release the victim's.

Left with no option, Nagi Reddy lodged a complaint with the police on 7th June.

The Nandyal district police formed special teams and 12 accused were arrested on 30th June. Police then recovered Rs.40 lakh from the possession of the accused.

During the further course of the investigation, Nandyal police arrested three key accused in the case identified as Gogula Naresh (30), Chenna Bhaskar (31) and Puttaparthi Raghu (27) on Friday.

Police recovered Rs.2.66 crore from the three accused alone. Nandyal police so far recovered Rs.3.06 crore out of the total sum of Rs. 4 crore paid as ransom.
