VIJAYAWADA: The statue of Mother Mary was vandalised by a miscreant on the premises of RCM Church in Machilipatnam of Krishna district on Thursday night.
The accused has been identified and a special team has been formed to arrest the accused under the supervision of Machilipatnam DSP. K Ramesh Babu, incharge DSP of Machilipatnam, said that the accused is a resident of the same area.
He vandalised the statue with a wooden log under the influence of alcohol at around 10:30 pm on Thursday and the church management informed the police at 6 am on Friday. Ramesh Babu said that investigation is underway and that the accused will be arrested in a day or two.
