Andhra Pradesh: Missing youth killed over inter-caste affair in Guntur

VIJAYAWADA: Guntur police cracked the murder case of a 19-year-old youth, who was thrown into a canal by stuffing his body into a jute sack at Appapuram, under Vatticherukuru mandal, in Guntur district.

Investigations revealed that the youth was killed as he loved a girl from a different caste. The incident took place on October 10 and was first reported as a missing case next day.

Guntur south DSP Y Jessie Prashanti said that the youth, Bandaru Gopi, fell in love with the younger daughter of Chavali Yallaiah (43). They eloped from the village about five months ago but were brought back by both families. An agreement was made between both families as they belonged to different castes, that Gopi should leave the village.

According to the agreement, Gopi left the village but recently came back home. Yallaiah suspected that Gopi had again started a relationship with his daughter and planned to kill him with the help of his friends and relatives.

On the night of October 10, the accused abducted Gopi and took him in an auto to a rivulet where they attacked him with sticks and sickles.
