VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Industry and IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath has challenged the TDP president and former CM Chandrababu Naidu that he would quit politics if the allegation leveled against him were proven.
He said he came from a political family that is well known for not only North Andhra people but also for undivided AP for the past 60 years.
It is recalled that the former CM Naidu during his public meeting in Anakapalli on Friday night leveled allegations against CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Gudivada Amarnath. He alleged that minister Amar grabbed 609 acres of land in survey number 195/2 in Visannapeta village in Bayyavaram panchayat in Kasimkota mandal of Anakapalli district.
Addressing the media persons on Saturday, Minister Amarnath said that of the 609 acres of land, 49 acres were acquired from Rangerbaligedda reservoir during the TDP government in 2002. The remaining, 560 acres belong to 89 farmers. The report has been given by five surveyors, an inspector of surveys, and mandal-level officials.
"I will quit politics if half a cent of that land was grabbed by me or my family members. Chandra Babu is on the verge of retirement from politics. Can he accept to take his son’s mandate that Lokesh quit from politics If Naidu failed to prove allegations leveled against me," Minister Amar asked.
