AMARAVATI: The state government is preparing a policy document to promote professionalism and excellence in logistics services and create employment opportunities.
The government is planning to ensure integrated, seamless, efficient, reliable, green, sustainable and cost-effective logistics network in the state. The state government wanted to ensure multi-modal cargo movement for optimal use of all transport modes, by developing multi-modal transport infrastructure, including MMLPs.
The state government has constituted a high-level State Logistic Coordination Committee headed by chief secretary. The SLCC comprising special chief secretaries and principal secretaries of the key infrastructure departments has been asked to prepare a Master Plan for State and City centric logistics, providing actionable program strategies to align the state policy with the national logistics policy.
The SLCC was also directed to explore ways to improve logistical efficiency which could also help improve GDP. “The committee has been asked to ensure predictability, visibility and tracking and tracing regarding cargo movement, and improve in-transit warehousing leveraging digital initiatives. It should also support modern trade and e-commerce, and create resilient supply chain for effective emergency response through modernization of the logistics sector,” said chief secretary Dr Adityanath Das.
The SLCC would democratise logistics services to benefit all sections of society, in particular, farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The committee has also been tasked with coordinating with multiple and fragmented stake holders across the Union government and states, National Logistics Council (NLC) and Central Advisory Committee on Logistics (CACL) besides an Empowered Group of Secretaries (eGoS).
