Andhra Pradesh: Man kills sister-in-law, ‘commits suicide’ in Kurnool

A 55-year-old man, identified as Hanumanthu, allegedly hacked his sister-in-law, Lingamma, 50, to death at her house at Muthukuru village in Aspari Mandal of Kurnool district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday and allegedly consumed pesticide later by locking himself inside the same house.

According to the Aluru police, the woman’s son and daughter-in-law, who were also sleeping on the terrace along with Lingamma and heard her screaming, tried to catch hold of Hanumanthu, but he ran downstairs and locked himself up inside the house.

The family members informed the police, who broke open the door of the house to find Hanumanthu unconscious. The police shifted him to Adoni Hospital and he died while undergoing treatment on Thursday.

Lingamma’s husband had died 14 years ago and since then Hanumanthu allegedly was in a relationship with her, but in the past two years, she had been reportedly avoiding him leading to frequent feuds.
