Andhra Pradesh: Man killed wife in a fit of rage, say cops

TIRUPATI: Srikanth Reddy has told the police that he killed his techie wife after she repeatedly warned him to end his demeaning acts of cheating people. Srikanth is the main accused in the murder of his wife, stuffing the body in a suitcase and burning it. Once the charred body was identified as that of his wife Bhuvaneswari, and Srikanth was found to be missing, the crime was established.

Additional SP E Supraja said the accused was taken into custody by the police near Tirupati zoo park when he was about to board a bus to Bengaluru. “On the night of June 22, Srikanth and his wife had a heated altercation. In a fit of rage, he suffocated her to death using a pillow. Next morning, he went to a super market and purchased a large size suitcase, stuffed his wife’s body into it and hired a car. He got down at an isolated spot near Ruia government general hospital and after sending away the car, threw the suitcase there. Later in the evening he returned to the spot with petrol and set the body on fire,” Supraja said.

Before dumping the body, Srikanth dropped his 18-month-old daughter Karunya at his in-laws’ place. He told them his wife succumbed to Covid-19 at a private hospital in Hyderabad and the hospital staff had cremated her body. After coming to know that police had managed to identify the burnt remains as his wife’s body, he tried to escape but landed in police net before he could leave Tirupati.
