VISAKHAPATNAM: East Godavari, Chittoor and Nellore districts on Thursday contributed over 1,100 Covid-19 infections, the most, to Andhra Pradesh’s daily tally of 2,145, which emerged from 82,297 samples which translates to a case positivity rate of 2.6 percent.
The cumulative caseload increased to 19,76,141 and the death toll increased to 13,468 as 24 people succumbed to the pandemic.
Five patients died in Prakasam, four each in Chittoor and Krishna districts, three each in YSR Kadapa and West Godavari districts, two in East Godavari, one each Anantapur, Guntur and Visakhapatnam districts.
As many as 2,003 people were declared cured on Thursday.
There are currently 20,302 active cases with 19,42,371 cumulative recoveries and 13,468 fatalities.
East Godavari reported 428 new infections, followed by Chittoor (369) and Nellore (304). Five districts--Anantapur, Kurnool, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram--double-digit case numbers with the lowest of 28 in Vizianagaram district.
