Andhra Pradesh: Herd of wild tuskers causes panic near Tirumala ghat road

TIRUPATI: A herd of wild tuskers moving close to the second ghat road linked to Tirumala, caused panic among the devotees and the locals on Tuesday.

According to TTD forest department sources, three adult elephants and a cub tusker were seen moving close to the second ghat road near the 7th mile on Tuesday afternoon.

The forest department staffers who learnt about the movement of the wild pachyderms rushed to the spot after being alerted by the passersby.

Speaking to reporters later, TTD DFO Srinivasulu Reddy said that the herd of wild tuskers moved deeper into the woods by the time they reached the road point.

"The same group of tuskers were seen criss-crossing this area a few days ago as well. We advise the devotees and the locals to move with caution while travelling in the ghat road section. Our personnel will track the movements of the tuskers to prevent any untoward incidents", asserted the TTD DFO.
