Andhra Pradesh govt nod to upgrade cancer centre into 100-bed hospital

VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Government General Hospital (GGH) is planning to give a new shape to the cancer centre located at Chinakakani.

The proposal sent by the GGH superintendent to develop the cancer centre into a 100-bed cancer hospital got approval from the state government.

GGH superintendent met noted oncologist Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu, who is also advisor to the government, seeking his guidance to the GGH authorities on developing a world-class cancer treatment centre which includes radiotherapy and chemotherapy along with surgical procedures.

“State government has decided to develop three cancer care centres in the state. We proposed to develop the health centre at Chinakakani which will help the patients from both Krishna and Guntur districts. The hospital is located in 10 acres and we can develop the amenities with a nominal expenses of 15 to 20 crore,” superintendent Kiran Kumar said.

“Our motive is to provide quality treatment for at least 300 cancer patients every month. Support of internationally-acclaimed doctors like Dattateryudu will help us to set high standards. He has assured all support to us,” Kiran Kumar added.
