VIZIANAGARAM: The Vizianagaram police in Andhra Pradesh arrested five persons for kidnapping a trader over a dispute and revenge on Tuesday.
Those arrested were identified as Pattimeeda Siva Surya (22), his father P Sriram Murthy and friends M Hari Krishna, Vamsi, and T Visweswar Rao.
Siva Surya, a native of Rajam Town in Srikakulam district, worked in a gold jewellery shop in Vizianagaram Town, where he fell in love with Pooja, daughter of Narapath Singh Purohit, who owns a shop at the same locality.
Siva Surya married Pooja in May against the wishes of Narapath Singh Purohit.
Apparently upset after his daughter marrying outsider, Narapath Singh Purohit, who is a native of Rajasthan, filed a petition in the local court in Rajasthan citing that Siva Surya kidnapped her daughter Pooja.
Based on the search warrant of the Rajasthan court, Rajasthan Police came to Srikakulam and with the support of Srikakulam Police they carried out searches in Siva Suraya’s house in Rajam when he was away from the home on August 15.
The police took away the girl and they were supposed to produce Pooja in the local court in Rajasthan to record her statement.
However, angry over the incident, Siva Surya developed a grudge against Narapath Singh Purohit and decided to attack Narapath Singh Purohit and few others to bring her wife Pooja back.
Siva Surya, along with his father and friends, came to Vizianagaram Town and they went to Narapath Singh Purohit’s house.
As the house was locked at that time, Siva Surya and his gang went to Narapath Singh Purohit’s shop, but they didn’t find him.
Later, Siva Surya and his team attacked Dhunduram Chowdhary alias Ramesh, who is also a trader and close aide to Narapath Singh Purohit and they kidnapped him to take revenge.
However, Dinesh Diwali, who works in Narapath Singh Purohit’s shop, informed the police about the attack and kidnap of Ramesh.
The Vizianagaram police, led by inspector J Murali, along with his team launched a search operation to trace the kidnapped Ramesh and rescued him within 24 hours by arresting five persons.
