VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh reported 2,526 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, taking the state’s cumulative caseload to 19,32,105. The toll increased to 13,081 as 24 more patients succumbed to the pandemic.
As many as 2,933 patients were declared cured, outnumbering daily cases for the 54th consecutive day. There are currently 25,526 active cases in the state, with 18,93,498 cumulative recoveries and 13,081 fatalities. Health officials tested as many as 93,785 samples to detect the 2,526 cases, translating to a positivity rate of 2.69 per cent. The state has so far tested 2,33,14,697 samples.
East Godavari district has 4,180 active cases, the highest in the state, followed by Chittoor (3,601) and Krishna (2,939). The active cases are less than 1,000 each in Anantapur , Kurnool and Vizianagaram districts.
East Godavari also reported the highest number of infections (404) on Thursday, followed by Chittoor (391) and Prakasam (308). Four districts — Srikakulam, Anantapur, Vizianagaram, and Kurnool — reported less than 100 infections each, with Kurnool reporting the lowest of 35 cases.
