Andhra Pradesh: Drunk man hurls detonator at YSRCP MLA Sankara Narayana, held

TIRUPATI: A drunk man who hurled a detonator at YSRCP's Penukonda MLA Sankara Narayana's convoy, was taken into custody by the police at Sri Sathya Sai district on Sunday.

According to the Gorantla police, MLA Sankara Narayana reached Gaddam Thanda village to take part in the Gadapa Gadapaku mana prabhutvam programme on Sunday.

A drunk man suddenly hurled a detonator on the MLA's convoy of vehicles which did not explode.

The MLA's followers immediately roughed up the miscreant identified as Ganesh and handed him over to the local police.

Gorantla CI Subbarayudu told reporters that it was a close shave as the explosion did not occur. "The accused Ganesh belongs to Somandepalli village in Gorantla mandal. He is in our custody and he threw the detonator in an inebriated state. We have registered a case and are further investigating", Gorantla CI added.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP MLA demanded the police to conduct a thorough enquiry into the episode. "Police should probe the conspiracy angle in this case as my life was under threat", Sankara Narayana added.
