Andhra Pradesh DGP pats Anantapur police constable for helping destitute woman

TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh director general of police Gautam Sawang appreciated the humanitarian gesture of a police constable for helping out a destitute woman.

Maruti Prasad, working as a police constable at the Gooty police station in Anantapur district who was passing by the highway near the town, spotted a destitute woman stranded by the side of the road and shivering in the cold weather.

The police constable immediately took off his winter-jacket and handed it over to the destitute woman. He also offered her some cash and later got her shifted to a nearby shelter home.

After Maruti Prasad's humanitarian gesture captured in a video went viral on social media on Saturday, DGP Gautam Sawang praised him in a tweet.
