VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday returned to his Tadepalli camp office here after completing his two-day visit in the national capital.
The chief minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other Central ministers during his stay in the national capital.
He met Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari and thanked him for sanctioning various national highway projects to the state.
During an hour-long meeting with the Union transport minister, the chief minister held discussion on preparation of DPR for national highway from Visakhapatnam port to Bhogapuram via Rushikonda and Bheemili. He said the proposed road is very useful for Visakhapatnam and it will be of short distance from the port to Odisha and Chhattisgarh and added that it will go close to the beach corridor projects along the coast.
Highway will aid tourism in region, says CM
He said this highway would contribute to the development of tourism in the region and also to reach Bhogapuram international Airport easily. He has sought for a six lane highway considering traffic congestion in Visakhapatnam.
Jagan has requested Gadkari to consider the state government's previous appeal to grant a bypass road on the eastern side of Vijayawada and said land acquisition will be completed as soon as possible and added that exemption would be given on SGST and royalty to reduce the cost of the project. He urged the Union minister to take up the project as soon as possible. Jagan has also requested for extension of the four lane road in Bapatla as a part of construction of NH-216 of Kathipudi-Ongole corridor as there is a possibility of traffic jams due to educational institutions, tourists and the air base.
